Instructional Design Project: Title + Logo

Assessment 2: Aims and Objectives –

  • To provide an interactive mobile and tablet application that can pass the test of time and become a home screen application that users check up on from time to time.
  • To decrease amount of plastic bottles and drink containers that are wrongfully disposed of or not sent to recycling centres.
  • To educate users on the variety of marine life in our ecosystems through the logging and digital collection of the animals.
  • To build a bond or close attachment to their newly achieved animal companions which would possibly help to influence users of the app against littering and pollution.

Assessment 2: Project Ideas –

What – An interactive mobile or tablet application that allows users to digitally collect marine life in a virtual setting after having unlocked them through achieving milestones via correct disposal of return and earn plastic bottles in order to address the plastic pollution crisis.

Why – Many aquatic creatures are losing their lives over the ever-growing plastic pollution within the seas and oceans.

How – When disposing plastic bottles at return and earn kiosks, users can scan a code to verify the disposal and certain number of disposals will unlock milestones.

Where – The application will not require Internet access except for when logging their disposals. It will be able to be access from anywhere. The virtual setting will be a reef/rock-pool where all the animals can swim around.

Quick brainstorm sketches (2019).

User Persona 1 + 2 –

User Scenario –

On a trip to their favourite Sydney Aquarium, Fernando (19) and Jemimah (17) have had their experience ruined when they spotted an empty water-bottle abandoned in a dark corner of the aquariums. They had always been concerned about the ever-growing ocean plastic pollution problem and it had now spread to even the man made ecosystems.

The pair had settled to change their own ways and agreed to do their best to responsibly dispose of their plastic bottles and drink containers however they wish they had a fun and interactive way to keep track of their progress and compete with one another about who was the best good Samaritan and green thumb, Eco-warrior.
